The Share network drive (Y:) has a subfolder “All members”, containing individual folders for each physiological task. The raw AcqKnowledge files for each task separately will be copied in here and each user will be able to apply analyses and processing to copy these files locally onto their PCs and save process and label them analyze them. After you have modified the file, you can copy it back to the shared space for the next person to add more processing.

Each of these task folders will additionally have a subject-specific folder, so the path will be e.g.(big grin)

Share (\\kea.nursing.ucla.edu) (Y:) → All members → OSA2019pre → Rest → CONTROL → CON5036 → Status_5036s01r01_20211203_rest_uptodate.acq

...

E.g., Fernando has processed the respiratory data of all hand grip tasks, so he saves a copy of the existing file “Handgrip.acq” as “Handgrip_Fernando_respiration.acq”.

This is only relevant if you add new markers to the AcqKnowledge file, not if you export excel spreadsheets without changing the file. For instance, you open “Handgrip_Fernando_respiration.acq” and you use “find cycle” to export breathing rates. Then, you can close the file without saving. If you make any changes, please save as a new file and add details about what you did to the file name. E.g. “Handgrip_Fernando_respiration_Bea_fixederrors.acq”.

“uptodate”

Group subfolder: OSA, CONTROL, CPAP-OSA (check how it is organized on the U-Drive)

Study subfolder and pre vs post: pre can also be used as a control subject for the OSA studies, so they can be copied into that folder → need reference material in a common locationThe files are easily searchable due to the “Status” in the name.

If you make changes to a file, please rename the file to reflect when you did so, i.e. 20211203, following the convention YearMonthDay.

If you copy a file from this location to your local computer to work on it, please rename the original file in this shared location to Status_5036s01r01_20211203_rest_Fernando_inprogress.acq

This shows other people that you are in the process of making changes to the file. If you see a file like this, please DO NOT copy it locally and/or make changes to this version. Instead, you can contact the relevant person and ask when they return the file, or you simply wait and in the meantime work on other files.

File renaming:

  1. Date modified YearMonthDay

  2. Your name - underscore - inprogress vs. uptodate

NOTE: please do not copy a bunch of files locally and work on them over a longer period. Please only take one at a time and process and return them as soon as you can. The idea is that everyone has access to these files and can make use of them, whilst sharing efforts and benefits with others.

Excel file: The respective status tracking file is Share (\\kea.nursing.ucla.edu) (Y:) → All members → OSA2019pre → Rest → OSA2019pre_Rest_status_updates

Please add your updates in the relevant column for each file you have modified. This file helps us keep track of what has been analyzed, by whom, when and what is left that can be analyzed.

If you want to export numbers, e.g. heart rate variability from files that have already undergone ECG channel processing, you do not need to change the name of the file or log it in the excel spreadsheet.

However, before you do so, it is everyone’s own responsibility to inspect the signal and marker placement to ensure you are not missing markers, have duplicates for peaks, or have noisy signal periods that should be excluded from the analysis.
