Notes

The original idea was for Maddie to investigate skin temperature and EDA for rest vs. meditation and compare OSA and healthy controls. The findings was that rest and meditation do not show any skin conductance responses and we only have 7 OSA participants who underwent physiological testing. Therefore, this would not be sufficient material for a publication.

Maddie will present a poster on skin temperature at the annual student research day.

Skin temperature:

Rest vs. Meditation

beginning of the period vs. end of the period (i.e. 1st minute of rest minus last minute of each task)

OSA vs. controls

Find Rest and Meditation in your Acknowledge file

Specifically meditation task

Analysis steps Acqknowledge

  1. Copy raw data into shared folder → copy to local folder

  2. Separate rest and meditation blocks into separate files

  3. Create focus areas for each task/file

  4. Run skin temperature analysis: excel spreadsheet

    1. 2-second intervals using find cycle

    2. Mean, standard deviation, median, minimum, maximum values extracted

Excel calculations

Create excel spreadsheet for each task and subject that contains:

  1. Temperature

    1. Mean across whole task

    2. Mean across one minute in the beginning and one minute at the end of each task based on excel output
