Initializing AcqKnowledge

  1. Locate the Acq 5 dongle (Key 11 & 12) in first drawer of PD's desk. Insert dongle to an open USB port on the computer hard drive tower
    1. Note: The Dongle MUST BE inserted to the harddrive in order to access the program. Acq will ask you to insert the dongle if it is unable to locate it.

  2. Access AcqKnowlege from PD desktop computer
You will receive the message below indicating that Acq is unable to establish communications with any hardware. Select: Analyze Only

  3. From the Acq home screen select: Open a graph file, Graph file on Disk, and clickOK
    1. This will allow you to access files directly from the T: Drive

  4. From the Acq: Open window, scroll to the T: Drive and access the Subject's Acqknowledge Document under the Physiology Study Visit: Phys folder. Select Open

  5. In a separate window, open the Subject's Physiology visit page on the Confluence: Study Lab book
  6.  You are now ready to create Focus Areas

Creating Focus Areas

  1. The first step to creating focus areas is changing the time scale from seconds to minutes. To do so follow these steps:
    1. Right click on the seconds scale to access the Acq: Set Screen Horizontal Axis window
    2. Change the time scale from 10.00000 seconds to 600.00000 seconds.
      1. This will convert the time scale from seconds to minutes
    3. Click OK

  2. Scroll to the left of the Acq file and locate the Rest Period in the "Protocol channel"
    1. The Protocol Channel is your guide to all of the exercises completed during the procedure
    2. Note the following:
      1. The practice tests are completed sequentially at the beginning of every physio procedure (following the MOCA*)
      2. The Rest period immediately follows the practice tests after the first CNAP +NBP finger switch
      3. Once a the practice tests are completed you will see a straight line in the CNAP Blood Pressure Channel. This indicates that the PD administered a CNAP finger switch and is calibrating the CNAP monitor to the Subject's index or middle finger.
Following the CNAP calibration is the Rest Period. Remember that there are approximately 90 seconds before the start of the actual Rest Period. These first "90 seconds" allow the Subject time to settle down and prepare for the Rest Period. This is also a time when the PD is giving the Subject instructions for the Rest Period. Once these 90 seconds are complete, the protocol channel will run through the sequence for the actual Rest Period

  3. Click on the Popup Menu drop down menu from the toolbar and turn on the Focus Areas Bar & Focus Areas element tools. These features will create labels on the graph for all the focus area(s) we will create.

  4. Click on the Zoom Tool from the to toolbar and zoom into the Rest Period by clicking in the protocol channel and moving the scroll bar at the bottom

  5. Click on the I-Beam tool for making selections. Place the cursor at the start of the actual rest period. Use the R & L arrow keys on your keyboard to move your cursor to the Right & Left of the graph. It is necessary to be as precise as possible when creating these focus areas. If you are unable to identify the start of the actual RP and the end of the 90 seconds prior to the rest period zoom into the graph by following Step 4 above.
    1. Note: We will not be labeling these first 90 seconds in the protocol as they are not indicative of the actual rest period

  6. Click and drag you cursor until you have highlighted the entire Rest Period. Release your cursor when you have reached the end of the Rest Period. Right click and select Create Focus Area...

  7. Type Rest Period in the blank space of the label window & click OK

  8. You have successfully created a focus area
    1. To change the color of the Focus area label, click on the Preferences dialog icon from the toolbar. Scroll to down to Focus Areas and select color. Form the select color screen choose the color and click OK. Click OK a second time to exit the Preferences window.

  9. To save the focus area, click File & Save Selection As..
    1. Note: You must highlight the entire focus area before saving "selection as"

    2. Save the selection under the U: Drive: OSA2013PhysAnalysis
    3. Locate the correct protocol folder, in this example we select: Rest Period
    4. Locate the Subject's folder by selecting the correct Condition/Gender at the time of their visit
    5. Label the file name as: _Rest or _MOCAV1 or _MOCAV2 (etc)
    6. Click Save
      1. Note: Do not make changes to original Acq file!!

  10. You have now successfully created & saved a focus area.
