UCLA provides Student Research Projects (SRP) that allow credit for research activities. A contract is signed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. The contract will assume a regular 1/week commitment for a quarter, with a designated time on one day of the week.

How to proceed?

Talk with Paul, agree of project topic and hours/week, then get a pdf contract from UCLA. With reference to the steps in the snapshot (bottom of page), here are the steps.

  1. Get the correct contract (SPR99 or SRP199)

  2. Agree on units (2-4); 2 units would be at least 4 hours/week, 4 units would be at least 8 hours/week.

  3. Write a draft project description. Do this in Docs (Word if you prefer) so it can be edited easily. Share with edit permissions so Paul can make changes, with Suggestions on. Once Paul agrees, add it to the contract.

  4. Email to Paul; he signs it

  5. Paul gets a department to representative sign. In Nursing, this is usually the Associate Dean for Research

  6. Paul emails back to you, and you pass it on as indicated.
