Writing on screen - ZoomIt, EpicPen
When recording demos, it’s often helpful to write and draw on the screen.
ZoomIt
Microsoft has a tool that works for static screens, but not live:
Note: Right-click with a Wacom pen button won’t work. Instead, use the mouse right-click or the Windows button.
This is a part of Microsoft’s “PowerToys” Microsoft PowerToys - Download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store. Install one or the other - PowerToys is probably simpler, but you need to open the PowerToys app, and enable ZoomIt from the Dashboard.
EpicPen
I’ve used EpicPen, which is functionally similar to ZoomIt but needs a license ($25 as of March 2025). Furthermore, EpicPen seems older software. ZoomIt does have more features, but I don’t use those. However, having the drawing remain on the live screen is rgeat - as of March 2025, ZoomIt needs to zoom in first to allow live drawing.
