fMRI VOI-to-VOI Connectivity Analysis

From the Set Stats GUI:

This opens a GUI where you can select fMRI data and VOI’s. For each fMRI type, it will calculate the correlations between all selected VOI. The output is an Excel file for each fMRI measure.

What is calculated?

  1. For each fMRI measure, the timetrends in all VOI are extracted. For each individual study, a single timetrend is extracted from each VOI (average over VOI voxels).

  2. All combinations of VOI are determined (i.e., all possible pairs of VOI).

    • In MATLAB,

  3. Each combination of VOI is then analysed. For each study, the correlation between the two VOI timetrends is calculated.

  4. For each combination, these correlations are summarized and some statistics performed both across, within and between groups.

  5. The output is an Excel file

Guide to Excel Output

1) Raw

The rows are each individual study, and the columns are the correlations for each combination.

2) Combined (more than 1 group)

One row/combination.

Mean, std, min and max for each combination across all studies.

3) Group-Specific

One row/combination.

Same as Combined but only for all studies in one group (mean, std, min and max for each combination).

4) Indv Stats

Same as “Raw” but with statistics for each correlation (p-value and 95% confidence intervals)

5) Group Stats (more than 1 group)

One row/combination.

ANOVA p-value and group-specific statistics (some duplicate with “Group”).
